October 9, 2006 was when “Web 2.0” became “Web Who.0,” according to my blog. That was an experiment I set up to market myself into work. I got some great free PR on CityNews TV and in the Metro newspaper, just for finding the right angle.

(Heck, I even got some free PR for my parrot too!)

I like doing that sort of thing, so decided to freelance and do it for others, hence this website. You’ll notice it’s very basic, loads fast, has minimal pages. That way I keep my overheads down and my clients get value for money. It’s a win-win for me and them. (Maybe more for them, but referrals are great too.)

Since 1995, I’ve worked in the U.K. and Canada as a journalist, editor, copywriter, website producer, content manager and am a published author. I am currently the Senior Digital Media Specialist for GCI Canada. I help clients with their social media strategy, and also contribute to the company's blog. Previous roles include: Acting Communications Manager for Upper Canada College; Editor of Product & Image Security and Silicon Valley NORTH; Managing Editor of Beer.com; Senior Online Content Manager for Rogers Media Publishing.

I love words, communicating to people, and using various “non-mainstream” methods to get messages across. Viral videos, Facebook groups, guerrilla marketing, that sort of thing. I know how to get good SEO too; type john carson blog, john james carson or kibbutz volunteer into Google, and hit the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button. Type john carson into Yahoo too, that's normally in the #1 spot. I can help you with that. And it won't be by adding your site to hundreds of link farms; that's SPAM, and actually hurts your ranking in the long run. I have a method that is fast, easy, and (as my own website rankings prove) really works.

Press releases, web content, articles, help with setting up a blog or social network profile, podcasting, videoblogging, affiliate marketing, Google AdWords ... all these services and more are what I do for a living.

If there’s things I can’t do — producing videos and graphic design, being two — I have a lot of trusted contacts and know people who can. So, really, I’m pretty confident that you’ll be happy with the end result. I will manage the whole process for you; just hand the project to me and I'll give you a quote.

That's my pitch. If you've read this far then I've done my job, so please give me a shout if you would like to chat about how I can increase your media exposure, via words, video or other methods.

Cheers,

John Carson.
